Warm Sundays in Berlin are mostly spent outside, soaking up the sun and taking advantage of the rarity that is warm weather. However, we recently discovered that there’s a way to get some of that much needed Vitamin D while binge-ing on some amazing street food. All you have to do is hop on a train or bike to Kulturbrauerei on a Sunday. There, you’ll find some of the city’s best food trucks all parked in one spot.
Built in the 1800’s, this complex used to be the Schultheiss Brewery. These days, it’s a place fit for East Berlin’s cool crowd. With hip offices, a cinema, and being the ever Instagrammable event space, Kulturbrauerei has become a must-visit destination in Prenzlauer Berg.
It’s been two months (!!) since we moved to Berlin and I thought I’d share an update on how it’s been. We’re slowly settling in and getting to know the city. So far so good! But I thought I’d share with you some adjustments we had to face when we first arrived.
No complaints in being this city since I’m now really enjoying it. However, I want to share some realities with you in case you’re thinking of moving here or to some other city in Europe as some bits may be applicable. Just to avoid a teeny bit of shock and hopefully, help you adjust faster. 😉
In case you’re a personal friend, a relative, or if you’ve been following me on social media, you may have noticed that we’ve moved posts. Yes, my treatment of this personal space of mine online has been quite appalling the past few… Err… Weeks? Months? But between packing, tying loose ends (freelance work wise), saying goodbye to dear friends, and moving from one continent to another, there just wasn’t enough time to actually sit down and pen something down.
So where in the world am I?
It’s literally a few days from Christmas and I feel like an exhausted elf working in the North Pole. While buying gifts and wrapping them are fun, I have to admit that it can really take its toll on me, physically. In fact, I’m typing this at 1:30 in the morning after finishing up another batch of gifts.
However, I just know that I had to log in real quick here to share with you some good news. The Body Shop here in Malaysia has launched an online shopping app! You know what this means, right? You can now shop for your favourite shower gels and body butters on the go!
So it begins. The deluge of holiday celebrations has begun! The past couple of days have been busier than ever with work and evening holiday events taking up most of our time.
Knowing that we’ll be hosting a couple of holiday get-togethers at home as well, I thought I’d do a bit of a run through with the table set-up for this season. Since I will be doing a lot of cooking, I want the set-up bit to be quick and easy. My husband and I agreed that we’ll be doing casual get-togethers this year to keep the ambiance relaxed, easy, and fun. However, I still want a touch of elegance.
It’s doable, I tell you.
Well, come on in!
Ah, Christmas. My favourite holiday as a kid and the holiday that can seriously send me into panic as an adult. While the holidays are truly a time of fun and cheer, there’s preparation involved – from decor, to food, down to shopping and wrapping gifts. It is honestly a major production.
The holidays are coming! Being the Gemini that I am, I have to admit that I have a split personality/opinion when it comes to the holidays. I can go from grinch (cos of preparations) to little, giddy girl (cos of Christmas food) in a matter of seconds.
For today, however, let’s talk about one of the best things about the holidays – food! Christmas is definitely a holiday that brings people together and what better way to celebrate than over a great meal?
